RHIFF OPEN CALL FOR INTERNATIONAL ENTRIES

  • All categories are Competition with a Cash Award for 1st place and non cash awards for 2nd & 3rd place finishers + Goody Bag
  • The audience gets a VOTE! RHIFF Best of The Fest Award regardless of category will be judged by the RHIFF festival audience and will be awarded with a Cash Prize along with a Goods & Services Prize + Goody Bag
  • Cash Awards and 2nd & 3rd place awards will be judged by a panel of top name achievers in film & arts related desciplines.

Feature Film - Narrative

Open to all narrative films 80 minutes and over in length. This category is open to directors of all levels. Films in a language other than English must be subtitled. If your film is in French or Spanish you do not have to subtitle if you haven't done so already for other markets.
1st Place Cash Award $500 . 2nd Place Cash Value Award $300 . 3rd Place Cash Value Award $200

Feature Film Documentary

Open to all documentary films over 80 minutes and over in length. This category is open to directors of all levels. Films in a language other than English must be subtitled. If your film is in French or Spanish you do not have to subtitle if you haven't done so already for other markets.
1st Place Cash Award $500 . 2nd Place Cash Value Award $300 . 3rd Place Cash Value Award $200

Short & Long Form Film - Narrative

Open to all short films 60 minutes and under in length. This category is open to directors of all levels, including students. Films in a language other than English must be subtitled. If your film is in French or Spanish you do not have to subtitle if you haven't done so already for other markets.
1st Place Cash Award $250 . 2nd Place Cash Value Award $175 . 3rd Place Cash Value Award $100

Open to all Animated Films that are 60 minutes and under in length. Your film must not be UNDER 3 minutes. This category is open to directors of all levels, including students. Films in a language other than English must be subtitled. If your film is in French or Spanish you do not have to subtitle if you haven't done so already for other markets.
1st Place Cash Award $150 . 2nd Place Cash Value Award $100. 3rd Place Cash Value Award $75

Dance & Movement Film

Open to all Dance/Movement films that are 60 minutes and under in length. Your film must not be UNDER 3 minutes. This category is open to directors of all levels, including students. Films in a language other than English must be subtitled. If your film is in French or Spanish you do not have to subtitle if you haven't done so already for other markets.

Music Video & New Media Competition

Open to all Music Videos and New Media published for film, digital and/or any application including the Internet. This category is open to directors of all levels, including students. Films in a language other than English must be subtitled. If your film is in French or Spanish you do not have to subtitle if you haven't done so already for other markets.
Music Video 1st Place Cash Award $100 . 2nd Place Cash Value Award $75. 3rd Place Cash Value Award $50
New Media 1st Place Cash Award $100 . 2nd Place Cash Value Award $75 . 3rd Place Cash Value Award $50

ReelHeART Films Competition

ReelHeART Films are films 2 minutes and under

These are micro shorts and should deal with what’s in your heart about current events in your life, your city, your town or across our world. There are no limits or boundaries to subject matter or genres. This category is open to directors of all levels, including students. Films in a language other than English must be subtitled. If your film is in French or Spanish you do not have to subtitle if you haven't done so already for other markets.
Non Cash Awards combined with Year Long Web Site Exposure + Goody Bag

Selected ReelHeART Films will be the “appetizer” before every program and will be published year-round on the film festival web site. Almost 30 slots are available for these films. Series of 3 or more by the same filmmaker[s] are welcome.

We especially invite Irish filmmakers and French, Latin American and Spanish speaking filmmakers for this category. As well, as gay, lesbian and bi-sexual filmmakers from any country.

If you are a local Toronto filmmaker have received help from associations such as LIFT, WIFT, TRINITY SQUARE, CFC, etc. [association must be listed in final credit roll] and if you submit your directly from the RHIFF website we invite you to take 20% OFF your entry fee.
