RHIFF OPEN CALL FOR INTERNATIONAL ENTRIES CLOSED FOR 2006

  • All categories* are Competition 1st Place in all categories is Cash Award plus goody bag. 2nd and 3rd place in all categories is a non cash award plus goody bag. All films also are eligible for 6 Honorable Mention places from RHIFF main program selection.
    While we prefer your film to be a Premiere [of some kind] it is not an absolute condition
  • RHIFF Best of the Fest Award The audience gets a VOTE! Regardless of category films judged by the RHIFF festival audience and tallyed along with RHIFF Judges scores will be awarded with the top prize of Cash and Goods & Services
  • CODES PRO MEDIA ReelHeART Award The visiting filmmaker that exhibits true independent spirit, from promotion to inspiration and engagement, will be awarded a non cash prize from CODES PRO MEDIA valued at approximately $250
  • RHIFF Best Venue Award The winning filmmaker is chosen by the venue operators, venue audience members and tallyed along with RHIFF Judges scores will be awarded the "Best Of Venue" award.
  • Films will be judged by a panel of top name achievers in film & arts related desciplines.
  • In the event of a TIE, winners will split the prize

* Prizes for ReelHeART Films under 4 Minutes are non-cash 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards. However, they are still in consideration for RHIFF Best of the Fest, Best Sound, Best Editing and CODES PRO MEDIA ReelHeART Awards

Feature Film - Narrative

Open to all narrative films 80 minutes and over in length. This category is open to directors of all levels. Films in a language other than English must be subtitled. If your film is in French or Spanish you do not have to subtitle if you haven't done so already for other markets.
1st Place Cash Award $500 . 2nd Place Cash Value Award $250 . 3rd Place Cash Value Award $100

Feature Film - Documentary

Open to all documentary films over 80 minutes and over in length. This category is open to directors of all levels. Films in a language other than English must be subtitled. If your film is in French or Spanish you do not have to subtitle if you haven't done so already for other markets.
1st Place Cash Award $500 . 2nd Place Cash Value Award $250 . 3rd Place Cash Value Award $100

Short & Long Form Film - Narrative

Open to all short films 60 minutes and under in length. This category is open to directors of all levels, including students. Films in a language other than English must be subtitled. If your film is in French or Spanish you do not have to subtitle if you haven't done so already for other markets.
1st Place Cash Award $250 . 2nd Place Cash Value Award $125 . 3rd Place Cash Value Award $75

Short Film - Documentary

Dance, Movement and Music Related Film

Open to all Dance, Movement and Music Related films that are 60 minutes and under in length. Your film must not be UNDER 4 minutes. This category is open to directors of all levels, including students. Films in a language other than English must be subtitled. If your film is in French or Spanish you do not have to subtitle if you haven't done so already for other markets.
1st Place Cash Award $150 . 2nd Place Cash Value Award $100. 3rd Place Cash Value Award $75

Animation/Visual; New Media/Experimental; and Music Video Competition

Open to all Animated, New Media, Visual, Experimental Film and Music Videos that are 60 minutes and under in length. Your film must not be UNDER 4 minutes. This category is open to directors of all levels, including students. Films in a language other than English must be subtitled. If your film is in French or Spanish you do not have to subtitle if you haven't done so already for other markets.
1st Place Cash Award $150 . 2nd Place Cash Value Award $100. 3rd Place Cash Value Award $75
NB This is 3 subcategories, in 1 area of Competition. If enough entries qualify, we will award 1st, 2nd, & 3rd in each subcategory, but not necessarily a cash prize

ReelHeART Films Competition

ReelHeART Films are films 4 minutes and under

These shorts should deal with what’s in your heart about current events in your life, your city, your town or across our world. There are no limits or boundaries to subject matter or genres. This category is open to directors of all levels, including students. Films in a language other than English must be subtitled. If your film is in French or Spanish you do not have to subtitle if you haven't done so already for other markets.
Non Cash Awards combined with Year Long Web Site Exposure, plus eligibility for RHIFF Best of the Fest and CODES PRO MEDIA ReelHeART Awards

Selected ReelHeART Films will be the “appetizer” before every program bloc and will be published year-round on the film festival web site. Twenty+ slots are available. Series of 3 or more by the same filmmaker[s] are welcome.

We especially invite Irish filmmakers and French, Latin American and Spanish speaking filmmakers for this category.
