Every year we have the honor of receiving some really fun films and some really great films. Behind those films some great people always arise who know how important it is to get involved with their films after the editing room.
It’s not enough to just make a film. It’s not enough to show it to family and friends.
In this business, you’ve got to push and push hard (but always keeping a postive attitude) to get people to see your film. Those people are hard to reach. It’s the audience, the press, the distributors, the people in front of the journalists, or the people that book talent and interviews on radio and TV. The film reviewers in print and on radio and TV.
When a film gets accepted into ReelHeART, we want to give you the real world experience of what it takes to promote your film in the independent world. You gotta think outside the box as a few filmmkers have done this year. And you gotta promote-market-email-write-call and schmooze. All of those parts make the whole indie package-
It’s a hard road for an indie filmaker. Many make a film and it just sits there. There are some that really believe in their film and make a passionate effort to get their film seen by all that could spread the word - Those are the filmmakers with true indie spirit…
