    When The World Goes Dark
    Director, Anthony P. Scalmato, USA

In the underworld of the New York City Subway system, one man struggles with madness for a chance at love. Presented as a disjointed sequence of fantasies ‘When the World Goes Dark’ is a chilling reminder that the everyday and commonplace can be as grotesque as it is absurd. In the end, only one certainty remains: this macabre delusion is not only on screen, but within our own minds.

    Lead Me To Your Light
    Director, Dewayne Rudd, USA

Something tragic yet wonderful is transpiring within the Eisenhower unit, a hospital ward for military veterans stricken with dementia. One of the veterans is Marion. Marion is ninety-three years old, nearly blind, and suffers from severe dementia. From time to time, God lowers the veil of dementia that surrounds Marion. For a few precious moments, he can tell hilarious stories, speak fluent French, and reminisce about his World War II combat experiences. Struggling alongside Marion is the filmmaker’s father, a disabled Korean War veteran who has Alzheimer’s disease. “Lead Me To Your Light” is a musical prayer and love letter for these veterans, and others suffering from the terrible effects of dementia.

    A Soldier’s Peace
    Director, Kristen Thompson, USA

A soldier returns home from Iraq, and because of his experiences, immediately begins to protest the war. He walks the length of his home state, Utah, the reddest state in the nation, to help end the war. During his 500-mile peace walk, he overcomes blisters, sleet and snow, government intimidation, and stereotypes. On the way, his patriotism is renewed as he meets peace-minded people from across the country who show up to walk with him. He concludes that if his protest doesn’t help bring peace to Iraq, it will at least bring peace to his troubled life.
