‘The Whole Truth’ is an complex animated short film that analyzes certain aspects of human interaction by de-contextualizing individual contributions to an ‘overly polite’ conversation. Three parts of a conversation between a husband, wife and unexpected visitor are edited in order obtain abstract, discrete monologues. Finally, all three parts are re-assembled to reveal the true implications of the discussion.

It is an intolerable fact that some children are abused, yet false allegations lead to tragic miscarriages of justice. One scientist has spent his career trying to answer the difficult question: should we believe the kids? At Cornell University, developmental psychologist Stephen Ceci studies the accuracy of children’s courtroom testimony particularly in cases alleging sexual abuse. “Truth and Consequence” focuses on Ceci’s research and three court cases in which he testified as an expert witness.

Schoolteacher Joseph Rickman has a history of strange visions, which Clara, the police detective he longs for, believes can help snare a diabolic serial kidnapper and murderer… Until his most explosive vision yet hurdles it all into “a true post-modern nightmare from the fringe… (in) unquestionably the most original Canadian Film of the Year”.
