Its been confirmed that the death of Brad Renfro was caused by accidental “acute heroin/morphine intoxication” According to a spokesperson for Los Angeles County Coroner’s office. Renfro had injected himself with the lethal dose hours before he was found dead in his home on January 15, 2008.
Friends who came to visit him in his Los Angeles home found Renfro dead. They may have been the same friends partying hard with Renfro from the night before, but nothing has been confirmed.
Renfro was laid to rest on January 21 in his native Knoxville, Tennessee. Just hours after the funeral, TMZ reported that Renfro had a young son (who lives in Japan with the boy’s mother), listed as “Y Renfro” in a local paper’s obituary for the actor…
It’s sad to know that Brad was abusing drugs since has was 14 or so and that drugs ended his brilliance as an actor who was discovered at age 10 and best known for films that began with a leading role in the thriller “The Client,” in 1994, a part he landed when he was 11 years old. He later went on to star in such films as “Sleepers,” “Apt Pupil,” “Deuces Wild” and “Bully.” Most recently, Renfro filmed “The Informers,” with co-stars Winona Ryder, Mickey Rourke, Kim Basinger and Billy Bob Thornton. The movie is set to open fall of 2008.
