Tonight is the 2-hour season premiere of Ugly Betty, starring our Latina heroine America Ferrara. 

Moved to Friday night because of its slumping ratings (FlashForward took Betty’s Thursday night time slot), but our Betty of old is preparing for her new position as associate features editor at Mode by looking the part.

Instead of braces, frizzy hair and her circus orphan inspired decade-blending wardrobe, Betty now sports silky smooth hair, tweezed eyebrows, expertly applied make-up. Whether audiences embrace the makeover will most definitely determine the fate of the series.

In the two-hour opener with special guests Lynn Redgrave and Kristen Johnston, Betty adjusts to her new position and struggles to get along with her ex-boyfriend Matt (Daniel Eric Gold), who is now her new boss. While her old boss, Marc (Michael Urie) deals with his feelings of betrayal over Betty’s promotion. Meanwhile, Daniel (Eric Mabius) tries to cope with Molly’s death and her nephew Justin (Mark Indelicato) has trouble fitting into his new high school.

Ugly Betty Season Premiere starts tonight 8 PM, EST on ABC.
