10:04PM, EST, January 29, 2010

Get ready to have some gaudy fun this Sunday as Lady Gaga and reportedly Elton John open the 2010, 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, at 8PM, EST on CBS.

Who will out ‘House of Munroe‘ the other will remain to be seen. But it might be fun to see Elton and Lady Gaga both perform as coconut donuts. Lady Gaga also has 6 nominations.

Also performing at the Grammy’s are: Beyoncé, the Black Eyed Peas, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Dave Matthews Band, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Green Day, Maxwell to name a few. The Black Eyed Peas are also nominated in 6 categories and promised that their performance will be unlike anything that the fans have seen before. “We’re gonna have some surprises. We’re just gonna do our part and entertain cats that are watching the Grammys,” Will.I.Am told MTV News on Thursday night in Los Angeles. “It’s gonna be fun.”

The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards are definitely music’s biggest night. I’ll be tweeting as usual. In the meantime, I got a chuckle at the article below from Becky Bain from Idolator:

*Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson, Celine Dion and Usher will sing a tribute to Michael Jackson, and This Is It’s “Earth Song” short film will be screened in its entirety in 3D. With any luck, it will also star a CGI’d Michael as a Na’vi straight out of Avatar.

*Green Day will perform “21 Guns” with the Broadway-bound cast of American Idiot. The cast of Cats will then storm the stage and say “Sorry, Green day, Imma let you finish, but ABBA had one of the best jukebox musicals of all time.” (No, that joke will never die until it is used in every hypothetical scenario.)

*Drake, Eminem, Lil Wayne and Travis Barker will perform together, most likely the remix of “Forever.” Unfortunately, none of these male artists are nine months pregnant, so last year’s all-star “Swagga Like Us” (with a M.I.A. performing on her due date) cannot be topped.

*Bon Jovi will perform one of three hits, depending on which song fans vote for. Whatever they choose to play, we’ll be humming “You Give Love a Bad Name” to ourselves.

*Probably no Kanye West. But we’re expecting—nay, counting on him—to BLOG.

*Somebody awkwardly asking Rihanna “So, why weren’t you here last year? Car trouble?” before immediately feeling like an ass.

*Mary J. Blige and Andrea Bocelli will perform “Bridge Over Troubled Water” to support the victims of the Haiti earthquake. Because somebody already came up with the genius idea to sell leggings.

*A tribute to guitar legend Les Paul with Jeff Beck and Imelda May. Maybe it will inspire kids watching at home to stop playing Guitar Hero and actually pick up a damn instrument.

*Jamie Foxx will perform with T-Pain, Slash and Doug E. Fresh. And they will all be upstaged by a giant 12-foot vocoder taking over lead vocals.

*Additional performances by Beyoncé, Pink, Taylor Swift, The Black Eyed Peas, Dave Matthews Band, and Roberta Flack. But with “Pants on the Ground” supposedly kicking off the show from the red carpet, there’s nowhere to go but down.

*More of this in the press room.

And if our predictions posts come to fruition, you can count on the following:

*Taylor Swift winning Song of the Year, Best Female Pop Performance, and Album of the Year
*Kings of Leon winning Record of the Year
*Keri Hilson winning Best New Artist
*Stevie Wonder winning Best Male Pop Performance
*Justin Timberlake and Ciara winning Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals
*Black Eyed Peas winning Best Pop Duo or Group Performance and Best Pop Album
*Lady Gaga winning Best Dance Recording and Best Dance Album

And if our Grammys Worst Calls post is to be believed, none of the above will take place.

4:31PM, EST, December 23, 2009

Sadly, it’s reported that a funeral for Brittany Murphy will take place Christmas eve at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills, five days after her untimely death. Murphy was 32.

The funeral and burial service will be “strictly private.” Rumors are that there may be a public memorial after the holiday season.

A will prepared by Murphy before she was married to British screenwriter Simon Monjack, leaves her entire estate to her mother, Sharon Murphy, reports New York Daily News.

There were a multitude of drugs found at the scene and seem to solidify rumors linking Brittany Murphy’s frail frame to her death.

But according to Chief Coroner Investigator Craig Harvey told the Daily News that Murphy weighed 115 pounds and that’s within medical recommendations for her height of 5 feet 5 inches.

Media reports said 10 different types of medication were found on her bedside table by an officer from Los Angeles County Coroner’s department.

The medications were in several different names, including those of Murphy, her mother, Sharon, and her husband, Simon Monjack.

They contained anti-depressants, anti-convulsants, anti-inflammatories and antibiotics. The list included Carbamazepine, an anti-convulsant, Methylprednisolone, an anti-inflammatory treatment, Propranolol, a heart drug (apparently Murphy did have a heart murmur), Klonopin and Ativan, both anti-anxiety drugs, Topamax, an anti-seizure medication, the antibiotic Biaxin, pain reliever Vicoprofen, anti-deressant Fluoxetine and Hydrocodone, a pain killer.

The exact cause of Murphy’s death has not been determined pending toxicology and tissue tests that could take four to six weeks. Investigators have ruled out foul play but booked a number of prescriptions in Murphy’s name into evidence.

‘Clueless‘ director Amy Heckerling has said that she believes Hollywood played a large role in transforming the actress from a round-faced teen to a rail-thin adult. Heckerling told Usmagazine.com that she is upset with Hollywood for transforming Murphy’s image.

“It just seemed like she was blowing up, being on every magazine and being treated as though she had suddenly become beautiful,” the New York Daily News quoted Heckerling as telling the mag. “And I think she was feeling very good about that. I’m just not happy with Hollywood,” she added.

Heckerling said Murphy’s size wasn’t the only thing that was worrisome. She said that in recent years, the 32-year old actress ’seemed a little too energetic’. “I just feel like I can’t say, ‘Oh, she was on drugs’. I can’t say that I noticed anything that led me to believe, ‘Oh my god, this person is messed up’. But one hears rumblings. It’s a small town, and you hear from other people on other crews, but that’s all rumors and stuff,” Heckerling said.

“I was feeling — maybe not just then at that particular time, but over time — that she was maybe being pressured to be a certain body type and a certain kind of actress as far as playing the sexy, blonde, thin girl,” Heckerling says. “And that she was buying into what she was supposed to be, rather than just being a wonderful, innocent young girl,” she added.

7:43AM, EST, November 06, 2009

While I normally don’t report on celebrity domestic violence, I wrote in my blog on February 20, 2009, that I think a picture is worth a thousand words. Here is the picture obtained by TMZ of the badly bruised and swollen Rihanna.

Now 21-year old Rihanna is back from the battle of domestic violence and she’s telling her story.

Rihanna says she believes domestic violence is a big secret that many woman carry around with them. Rihanna explains:

“No kid goes around and lets people know their parents fight. Teenage girls can’t tell their parents that their boyfriend beat them up. You don’t dare let your neighbor know that you fight. It’s one of the things we (women) will hide, because it’s embarrassing. My story was broadcast all over the world for people to see, and they have followed every step of my recovery. The positive thing that has come out of my situation is that people can learn from that.”

The fact is, most victims of abuse don’t report or talk about their abuse because they are embarrassed and humiliated. Most experts say is takes around 10 attempts to get out of a abusive situation (which explains why Rihanna originally got back with Chris Brown). A staggering one in five teens are victims of abusive relationships. These are who her fans are so her telling her story is important to let it be known that abuse can happen to anyone. Even a multi-million dollar star.

In her new interview with Glamour magazine, where they have named her Woman of the Year, Rihanna opens up about her February abuse from ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, saying she was unprepared for the media scrutiny the incident would cause.

“It has taught me so much. I felt like I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears,” she said. “That was the level of media chaos that happened the next day. It was like, ‘What, there are helicopters circling my house? There are 100 people in my cul-de-sac? What do you mean, I can’t go back home?’”

The “Umbrella” singer also said she felt especially betrayed to learn that the two LAPD police officers who leaked the photo of her bruised and bloodied face were women.

“It was humiliating; that is not a photo you would show to anybody. I felt completely taken advantage of. I felt like people were making it into a fun topic on the Internet, and it’s my life. I was disappointed, especially when I found out the photo was (supposedly leaked by) two women.”

“My story was broadcast all over the world for people to see, and they have followed every step of my recovery,” she said. “The positive thing that has come out of my situation is that people can learn from that. I want to give as much insight as I can to young women, because I feel like I represent a voice that really isn’t heard. Now I can help speak for those women.”

As well as her magazine interview, Rihanna does an interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer. Teasers were aired Thursday and this morning on Good Morning America with the full interview being aired on 20/20 tonight at 10PM,EST.

In Sawyer’s interview, Rihanna acknowledges getting back together with Brown in the weeks after he assaulted her was a mistake.

“It’s pretty natural for that to be the first reaction,” Rihanna tell Sawyer. “The moment the physical wounds go away, you want the memories to go away.” Love, she said, had blinded her at the time. Given how many victims of domestic violence do go back to their abusers, it’s important for the public to hear an explanation of that toxic thought process.

Rihanna tearfully told Sawyer that she eventually ended things with Brown after thinking about the example she was setting for fans in abusive relationships of their own. “When I realized that my selfish decision for love could result in some young girl getting killed, I could not be easy with that.” She said she became ashamed that she had ever been with someone who was capable of what Brown did to her: “I fell in love with that person. That’s embarassing.”

In her interview with Sawyer, Rihanna doesn’t mention Brown by name, who by the way pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to probation, anger-management classes and community labor. But she expresses sadness and disappointment, she also says that the experience has made her “stronger, wiser and more aware.”

Since 2001 Forbes Magazine has published their ‘Dead Celeb’ Moneymaker List. Published For the last 6 years before Halloween, the list that shows which celebrities are still making money from their grave. And, for second straight year, the King of Rock Elvis Presley topped their Top-Earning Dead Celebrities, making $52 million in 2008.

The 30th anniversary of Presley’s death boosted attendance and merchandise sales last year at his Memphis, Tennessee, home, Graceland, as well as licensing deals, such as a Presley show on satellite radio, added to the earnings.

The closest ranking living celebrity – Justin Timberlake, who made $44 million last year.

Making money for the dead, pretty much starts the day they die, this year a perfect case study with the passing of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, where his family and handlers didn’t waste a minute of cashing in on his celebrity, from souvenir high gloss ‘death programs’ memorializing his funeral to a new Michael Jackson documentary, to the preparatory concert footage film Michael Jackson: This Is It, in limited release 3 months after his death.

Elvis Presley, Charles Schultz, Theodor “Dr. Seuss” Geisel, Beatles legend John Lennon and actress Marilyn Monroe are the only entertainers to make the list every year.
Forbes’ Top Dead Celebrities Moneymakers for the last 12 Months:
